[edit] Green Numbers & Relative Increase

What the heck is Green Numbers? I can't make heads or tails of it. If it's a personal page, please move it to User:Ollj/Green Numbers; otherwise, it needs serious cleanup (especially all that code). —Tanaric 17:04, 19 Jul 2005 (EST)

[...] Relative Increase helps understandin Green Numbers (or confuses you even more...) [Green number stub]

Ollj, I made some comments on your relative increase theory. Please read them at Talk:Relative Increase. Thank you.

im working on a template for all green number ranges.

[edit] Animal Companion

Kudos. That was very well done. :) --Karlos 19:41, 3 Aug 2005 (EST)

[edit] Positive Note

I just want to actually thank you for being so dedicated to this Wiki. I second LordBiro's suggestion that you take a moment to observe what is in place and examine the styles, the templates, the categories that are in place before you revamp an entire area. Nothing wrong with trying, and none of this criticism is personal. I am sure you are trying to help, and I for one am grateful for all the help we can get. --Karlos 12:10, 30 Jul 2005 (EST)

[edit] Trying and Trying

Hey, Ollj, I noticed that when you are trying to do something, you keep editing, then saving, then editing then saving , then editing then saving. Instead, how about you hit the Show Preview button? This way you can see what the page will look like and edit it if you need to.

By editing and saving to check what your work looks like you are filling up the Recent Changes list pretty fast with about 5 articles. --Karlos 18:55, 30 Jul 2005 (EST)

doesnt work on sites with templates that use templates (templates in templates). And wiki table code made of templates (with fixed width) are tricky, i just made it. -24...-14

For testing, there always is the Sandbox, too... --84.175.70.38 00:14, 31 Jul 2005 (EST)

[edit] DISCUSS THINGS FIRST

Ollj, you do a lot of very wide reaching things without discussing them. Some things are good ideas, like categories like "causes bleeding" and so on. Others are bad things, like putting EVERYTHING into categories for the sake of YOUR solo work. Others are questionable like your work on number ranges. The way to figure out which things are good or bad is to ask on a talk page somewhere, wait a day or two, and then see if you should still do it or not.

You have continued to do things even after people have asked you to stop and discuss things first. Even when one of those persons has been an admin for the wiki. Virtually everyone has yelled at you at some point. This is the reason. --Fyren 19:36, 1 Aug 2005 (EST)

Im not editing site by site, i edit "group" by "group" , its faster (more repetative) and makes it harder to miss something because of more overview over the whole thing. That way I edit like 2000 sites a day, of course the more negative changes fall more into everyones eye when people look at a few sites only, without seeing the whole thing that unites all edits in all sites. That way of editing makes it hard to discuss all the changes because of the hypertext form, but there is discussion! Right now i KNOW half of all sites here :) but i can not keep track of all those discussions. Another problem is that this way of editing takes longer time intervalls so you may see incomplete stuff more often, just because its a project split over multiple sites that are linked to each other. Like the actual categories, wich is a 2 day project of cleaning up. discussion was planned between those days, discussing how to clean up...

Dude, this is exactly what we don't want you to do. Here is what you are doing wrong:
  • You are taking on a massive update of what the categories in the site are and you are not telling any one about it. You still refuse to simply TELL us what you plan to do.
  • You assume that we agree with and understand what you are doing. Neither assumption is correct.
  • Most of this public work (public because it affects what users of the site will see) is so that you can do your work easier, not so that users can find more information. This is not why we have these articles. These articles are for people to search and read. Not for us to put crazy/useless info in them so we can sort them out however we want.
This is the last time I will actually make this request. Please: Stop making massive changes without first discussing them. If my request is not heeded, I will turn to the admins and ask that they put a ban on your account and your IP address. I am starting to feel your influence has been far more negative than positive so far.
This is no threat I am just one user like you, I am simply letting you know how I feel about this in hopes you may reconsider. --Karlos 20:08, 1 Aug 2005 (EST)
Karlos, you are not alone. I feel exactly the same. --Geeman 21:37, 1 Aug 2005 (EST)
I would not like to have to ban someone from the wiki but I will do if you continue to act in such an ignorant manner. <LordBiro>/<Talk> 23:29, 1 Aug 2005 (EST)

[edit] Very Large / Cleanup

Whatever can be discussed elsewere than here should just be linked here and be merged and discussed there because this place is getting too full... Ollj

That alone should make you think what you have done/are doing. --Geeman 01:56, 2 Aug 2005 (EST)

[edit] Condition rewriting

Please do not rewrite the paragraphs describing the effect into ugly bulleted short sentences. the work you are doing with the sources of each condition is nice. Keep it up, but please recognize that English composition is not the best way you can contribute to this Wiki. Thanks. --Karlos 20:37, 11 Aug 2005 (EST)

[edit] Questions

If you have a question about a skill, ask it on the skill's talk page. Don't go around creating templates and links. --Fyren 03:28, 12 Aug 2005 (EST)

Ollj, I appreciate your more considered approach to editing that we have witnessed lately, it is a lot more welcome on the wiki. However, the Question template is not helpful. It will be deleted in the near future. <LordBiro>/<Talk> 02:13, 13 Aug 2005 (EST)

[edit] Signet of Agony

Ollj, you added two descriptions to this skill. Which is correct? —Tanaric 18:59, 12 Aug 2005 (EST)

I figured it out. According to the history, the description from "Rend Enchantment" got there when you pasted the skill template, you apparently copied two lines too many. :) Thanks for fixing it. Necro is such a passe class! :) --Karlos 19:48, 12 Aug 2005 (EST)

dont u event think about calling necro a passe class, and yes, i saw the date. just love nec's -- Thempest 21;47 13 march 2007

[edit] What are you doing?

Ollj, you are currently making 2 edits per minute. What is even worse is that I don't see how those pages are relevant anymore, they should be deleted as per our discovery in Talk:1...3. Please continue the discussion at User talk:Hewus on how do deal with this situation before making more changes. --Hewus 01:10, 14 Aug 2005 (EST)

[edit] Deleting your Green Number Articles

Ollj, you've requested many of your articles to be deleted, and I appreciate that, but could you please do the same for those in the Template namespace, if they're no longer in use? This page will help you see what's left. —Tanaric 18:42, 18 Aug 2005 (EST) Welcome to the longest delere reason ever --Ollj 20:28, 18 Aug 2005 (EST)

Done. Let me know on my talk page when the next batch is ready to be removed. —Tanaric 22:02, 18 Aug 2005 (EST)

I'd like to make a statement to you and for all other users reading this page. I've deleted 130 articles that you added to the wiki today, Ollj. I'm going to delete a bunch more once you finish obsoleting them. And somebody (hopefully not me...) will have to go through the 400+ skill articles and delink the number ranges. I'm doing this because it needs to be done. However, it's pretty clear that these pages never should have existed in the first place, and the skills definately shouldn't have been linked in the first place. You stated you wished to test something, and that's fine: but do it in your userspace. User:Ollj/Green Numbers Testing, for example, would have been a great page for you to experiment on; there was no need for you to add 200 articles to the wiki for it.

You're working to fix the problem, and we appreciate that. However, I'm stating this in no uncertain terms: if you ever put me or any other editor in the position of having to waste hours of our time cleaning up a mess you made, I'll permanently ban you from GuildWiki. We appreciate your contributions, and we appreciate your dedication, but it's simply not worth our time to babysit your edits. Please don't make me follow through with this. —Tanaric 22:17, 18 Aug 2005 (EST)

This is the best place to note that I cleaned up a lot of other peoples mess, too. Today I corrected ~20 wrong ranges other peoples had in their skill descriptions, just because their source was not up to date. Ill go trough all the skills anyways and fix the links. Your problem is just that a lot of pages became obsolent in a short time instead of just one page every now and then. Going trough all templates let me find ~15 more templates that may not be usefull as templates anymore, and only half of them are mine.

enjoy Template:skill, its obsolent and not used anywere, but that didnt stop you, anaric, from removing the delete template --Ollj 22:35, 18 Aug 2005 (EST)

Your delete reason told us we should keep it. "Obsolent" isn't a word. The mere fact that your poor English caused the delete template to be ambiguous does not mean I'm at fault for removing it. A simple {{delete|usused template, obsolete}} would have sufficed, but that's not what you wrote. You wrote "wait. maybe we should keep this classic, even if its not used anymore" which isn't a reason for deletion, it's an opener for a discussion, which is why I recommended using the Talk page. —Tanaric 22:45, 18 Aug 2005 (EST)

I noticed Tanaric said (on the skill style talk page) you're "in the process of deleting both his range pages and templates." Is that what you're doing or just marking the templates and articles used for only single (or relatively few) skills for deletion? --Fyren 14:16, 20 Aug 2005 (EST)

I don't think it matters either way. Maintaining two different styles is a nightmare, so since some range pages and templates have gone, all must go. —Tanaric 14:21, 24 Aug 2005 (EST)

[edit] Namespaces and searching

Creating an article with a colon in the name doesn't make a namespace, just an article with a colon in the name. I forgot to mention before, but in your preferences, you can set which namespaces search will look at. (I saw a while ago you commented about search not looking at templates, you can tell it to.) --Fyren 09:29, 23 Aug 2005 (EST)

[edit] Aura of the Lich

I see you reverted my revert on this one. Yeah, the in game description may not be 100% accurate. But it is no reason to write the other stuff twice! And do you know why there is the Usage section? It's for stuff like that! And there is actually already info about the regeneration not taking affect from this skill. So why not take your 'Better descriptopn' off and writing about the skill in the usage section? --Geeman 21:02, 23 Aug 2005 (EST)

Could you contibute here? --Geeman 03:13, 24 Aug 2005 (EST)

[edit] Putting your name in articles

Please do not put your name in the title of any article. Period. No one has any business doing that. Can you imagine what would happen if we allow that? "Karlos' guide on defeating the Lich Lord" "LordBiro's observations regarding the ranger profession" this is bogus and you know it.

If you want to maintain credit for the idea itself, then don't post it here. Information posted in the wiki is public domain and is the property of the wiki. Post it in your own website and then place a link to it here. But do not put your name in any articles, please. That is just a BAD, BAD precedent. --Karlos 15:08, 24 Aug 2005 (EST)

Man, Ollj, everytime you start to behave, and seem like you've reformed, you do something that makes me want to kill you again. Sometimes I wish this were an Ultima Online wiki instead... because then I could find you, kill you, take all your stuff, follow your ghost back to the healer, and kill you after you resurrect, over and over again. That's essentially what you're doing to this wiki, so it'd be fitting revenge. —Tanaric 23:15, 24 Aug 2005 (EST)

[edit] Gardock's Staff

Just a minor question: Do you recall where you found the info about Gardock's Staff? Got a screenshot of the staff and/or its stats by any chance? Guild member found and showed it.

[edit] Stop! Stop! Stop!!!

Please stop changing the numbers after I spent half a day fixing them! The numbers in the patch text are 0..15, the numbers in our skill listings are 0..12. So, please stop changing the numbers. Thank you. --Karlos 19:00, 30 Sep 2005 (EST)
