[edit] Welcome

Hi! Welcome to guildwiki my love! -- BrianG 20:15, 25 January 2007 (CST)

You have to help me with my character section soon, my dear. Either this is confusing or I am just lazy. My guess is the lazy. Misanthropist 16:10, 26 January 2007 (CST)
Cool! Character section looks really good!! -- BrianG 19:44, 29 January 2007 (CST)
Hey, congrats on your new userpage. However, the page looks kind of stretched on a 1024x768 screen (requires horizontal scrolling). Might I suggest using width="100%" instead of width="1040" for the main table and width="50%" instead of width="520" for each of the subsequent tables. This will cause the page to scale according the the size of the screen its being displayed on and look much cleaner. Well...welcome to the wiki...and if you need any userboxes just bug Brian (I know your watching this page Brian ^_^). :P— builds Azroth talk 23:42, 29 January 2007 (CST)
Hey, thank you! I was actually just thinking the same thing before I read this, how eerie is that? I was wondering if that was going to happen, I used to be really good with HTML and now I suppose I'm sort of lacking. So I will definatly make those changes, thanks for the tip. And I was planning to steal some of his userboxes, muaha. :) Misanthropist 00:18, 30 January 2007 (CST)
Looks, good ^_^ If you're looking to catch up on the basics for wiki coding you should visit Xas' userpage and GuildWiki:Editing guide. I never use <b></b> or <i></i> anymore (wiki coding is basic html with some mods. <b>=''' and <i>=''...actually, just read the editing guide :P). Good luck.— builds Azroth talk 00:42, 30 January 2007 (CST)
Hey Azroth, since you are so helpful, (hehe) I wanted to know if you maybe knew where I could find a userbox that says I primarily play Dervish? Or maybe something like how I love dervish? If you don't know it's cool, but I've been surfing around and can't find any. Misanthropist 14:13, 30 January 2007 (CST)
Ummm...I don't believe there is a set of profession boxes. Most ones are custom made like my Elementalist box. Is there any particular Dervish skill you like the image for?— builds Azroth talk 15:09, 30 January 2007 (CST)
It's cool actually I just figured out how to make my own, which is cool cause I have some ideas for new ones. But thanks. :) Misanthropist 15:27, 30 January 2007 (CST)

Hey, check out User:Gem who has a box about liking Dervish, and also, Vallen Frostweaver has just built userboxes for each profession, that say for example, "This user is a Dervish by nature". He has programmed these to link to a category of all players who use the box so you can see who else favours that profession. Otherwise, as Azroth is suggesting, you can just make your own userbox by taking any userbox and switching the image and text. You could pick your favourite Dervish skill icon for example, or use the dervish icon.  :) -- BrianG 15:18, 30 January 2007 (CST)

Hmmmm forgot the link to Vallen's new userbox creations: User talk:Vallen Frostweaver#Profession userboxes. -- BrianG 15:21, 30 January 2007 (CST)
Thanks dollface, I took that Dervish one. :) Misanthropist 15:27, 30 January 2007 (CST)
Hmmm...nice formatting and I like the category idea but the boxes look kind of bland. Just my opinion though, I think I'll stick with my Elementalist box instead of using his. I'm just partial to skill icons as opposed to profession icons. Either way, didn't know someone had finally done that so thanks for the info. ^_^ — builds Azroth talk 15:31, 30 January 2007 (CST)
Ohhh...and if you ever want to design your own userboxes (instead of "borrowing" them from Kalomeli, Gems girlfriend) here's the basic template. Have fun. ^_^ Just try not to get as hooked on them as Brian :P— builds Azroth talk 15:57, 30 January 2007 (CST)

Glad you guys liked the userboxes linked to categories. Pleased to meet you Misanthropist. You're welcome to use anything from my userpage or talk pages. I'm always open for changes to so feel free to comment or question anything. If anyone has any ideas where would be a good place to tell people about the new category oriented user boxes please let me know. In the mean time, enjoy the wiki.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 14:09, 31 January 2007 (CST)

[edit] Guild Status

PS - Warhammer RPG, Fantasy, or 40k? I'm also in a very pleasant guild as well so if you are still looking, I may have one you might consider and might consider you (I'm no officer - but I keep an eye open for guildless nice people who might be a nice addition). If interested, let me know and I'll go on in detail but if not I'll stop here (this goes for others too but we are a small guild and tend to stay that way so as not to get lost). Anyway, welcome to the wiki. :) --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 14:09, 31 January 2007 (CST)

Pleased to meet you too! And thank you, I've put your page on watch, haha. If you want to take anything from me you can as well. I think you should definately try to get those boxes out, it's a nice idea. I couldn't really decide between that and ranger since I like them both equally but I think Dervish wins by a little. Also, Warhammer 40K Dark Crusade. Good game. Have you heard of the Warhammer Mmorpg? :P Oh, and I am still looking for a new Guild so I am very much interested, so do go on! Right now the Guild I am in is made up of only about 15 people I know in real life but rarely play, so I'd like to have a Guild with people who are into playing as much as I am. Let me know and thanks again. :) Misanthropist 14:32, 31 January 2007 (CST)
Ah, well I am a 40k tabletop player but haven't played in a while (too expensive). I have heard of the MMORPG but that's about it. Still, at least I know it's not just me and my wife that plays anything WH. Regarding the guild, our web page is in my user page first paragraph but you can't see much of our conversations since 95% of our talks are in the private section so that's not the best example. We're a guild of (very general numbers here) about 5 very active, 10 random active, 5 low active, and 10 non-active players on the US servers. The guild is about 50/50 on male to female ratio and the average age is from 20-40 (I think...). Very mature but loose group that's great for anything PvE with some PvP (like Alliance Battles...). No pressure to group or not and they will help if needed. Almost always at least one person is online (usually the officers and the leader). Having fun is what it's all about though so often we may go from running someone's character through an area to a group Tombs run to finishing a mission that someone needs to capping an elite skill. 1/2 of the time I party alone but rarely do I have to. Sarcasm rules the day and I don't know any nicer people. What can you tell me about you? Feel free to post on the SiC guild forums if you don't want to post stuff on here as then we can introduce you to some of my guildmates (though only about 5-10 people really check the guild forums regularly but it's usually the officers, leader, me, and one other normal guild member). And if you decide you aren't interested I don't hold any grudges and won't be offended. ;D --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 15:15, 31 January 2007 (CST)
Vallen, I'm currently in the same guild as Misanthropist, and we'll probably be changing guilds together. Our main frustration right now is that our guild is too small and most members are on inconsistently, so there are never people around if we need help with something that requires a full party for example. What time-zone are the users from your guild mostly in, and when do they mostly play? We are in Eastern timezone and usually play during late evening and weekends. Also, do you guys use headsets at all? Oh and... what does the cape look like? :) -- BrianG 16:22, 31 January 2007 (CST)
*sigh* We really should have a guildwiki guild. At least that way you'd know all the people in the guild, and always know where to reach them if they weren't in game (and "gently" encourage them to come play. :D Ex. "Hey Vallen, stop playing with your pretty new boxes and come help us farm!!"). :P— builds Azroth talk 17:07, 31 January 2007 (CST)
Well, there is one guildwiki guild, but I think they are more PvP oriented and I'm not sure if I'd fit in with some of their members. But there is no reason why some of us PvEers couldn't try to all join the same guild, or create one. What's going on with your guild right now Azroth? -- BrianG 17:46, 31 January 2007 (CST)
NAFF's guild has half a dozen active members (judging from what my mule can see etc), and I don't think many of them are active on the wiki — Skuld 17:58, 31 January 2007 (CST)
My guild is completely empty right now save for me, my little bro, and our neighbor. I rebuilt it once, then got vent and hated all the people who joined (all really imature and swore a ton) so I cleaned the guild out...again. :P I wanted to try and build it again, but I never got around too it. If enough people are interested I guess we could try and build it into a wiki guild.— builds Azroth talk 20:31, 31 January 2007 (CST)

You know, I was wondering about your guild status too BrianG. I didn't see any remarks about it on your userpage and was wondering, thinking that you may be in the same boat as Misanthropist. I am in Eastern timezones and most of our players play to about 10 or 11 pm here on the weekdays and later on weekends (there are 2 couples I know of also). No headsets. :( I've been wanting that for a while but am ok without for now. Usually there is 1 person on minimum at all times but getting together an entire guild group isn't as common (though likely on a weekend). Usually only about 4 can make it but we've had groups of 8 before. Thanks for the poke there Azroth. ;) And I guess if you are looking for a bigger guild this may not be the one. It's pretty low key but the people are the nicest, most reliable, moral people and you can almost always find someone to help you (rare that you can't but it's happened to me before to be completely honest). Tell you what, I won't push since I see you guys are in limbo and considering your options seriously (which I appreciate). I'll add you both to my friends lists and next time I see either of you online perhaps we can party together and I might bring a few guildies with me. To finish off your questions, they play all sorts but we have 3-4 monks, warriors, and rangers very often with necro's being next common and other professions as uncommon (though heroes are popular). Other professions are come and go but each one has multiples of players at different areas in each chapter. As for the cape, it's the image on the guild page link but I think I might add a better close-up on my userpage. It's undergone voting before and may again though.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 21:12, 31 January 2007 (CST)

There, added the cape link on my user page. I'll format it better another time.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 21:20, 31 January 2007 (CST)
lol, you and your giant paragraphs. I'm an Elementalist by nature, but I play all profs pretty well (no one ever dies when I monk...except wammos. They like to run in, so I let them die until they learn to behave :D). If no one wants to try and build a wiki guild I might join yours as well (assuming I dont rebuild mine). Guess I'll just wait and see if the idea catches on this time or not.— builds Azroth talk 22:04, 31 January 2007 (CST)
I do tend to write too much... sorry but I can't help it. I thought there was a wiki guild...? But I think it was mostly PvP... can't remember.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 08:52, 1 February 2007 (CST)
Yes, there sort of is, run by not a fifty five, but it is mostly PvP, and apparently not especially active (see skuld's comment above). I tend to write a lot too, so don't worry about it, hahaha. As for guilds, the main reason I'm taking the decision seriously is that our current guild is run by a close friend, and if 2 or 3 of the most active members leave it will most likely mean that the guild might dissolve. The guild leader may also follow us, so I want to make a good choice in order to justify this (I wish you could join more than one guild to prevent these tricky situations). Personally I think a wiki guild would be a great idea, but I'm not sure how many people would be interested enough to leave their current guild. Frankly I'd be happy to be in a guild just with a few of my wiki friends, so I'd be interested in either idea (a bunch of us joining an existing guild such as Vallens, or creating a new one, as long as it would have enough users). The cape looks pretty cool Vallen. -- BrianG 12:34, 1 February 2007 (CST)
To put it short, the major wiki contributors have left. It was never PvP-intensive, really. — Rapta (talk|contribs) 12:36, 1 February 2007 (CST)
Sorry to hear that Rapta.  :( --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 12:51, 1 February 2007 (CST)
In responce to Rapta: Yeah, I knew 55 tried to set this up a while back. It's kind of funny that the topic came up again here the same day he comes back to the wiki complaining about his guild. :P If we could get enough people together I'd love to start a wiki guild (at least then when your guildies weren't on you'd know where to go and yell at them, lol). Any ideas of a place where we could post a topic to see how many people would be interested (preferably a place that can be found by more than the six or so of us :D)?— builds Azroth talk 13:49, 1 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Forming an Alliance

To respond to BrianG, what about Alliance options? We currently aren't allied with anyone (as our last alliance dissolved with the other guilds breaking up left and right). I don't think that would harm either guild (unless you're fully allied) and it may end up keeping your guild together with options for teaming with others from my guild or even merging the remaing members if it goes that way in the end. I haven't cleared anything or even mentioned this to my guild yet (as I haven't been online to play in a week or so) but I thought it worth mentioning as an idea to think about for now. I know that our guild does have a couple base requirements for joining like that an officer or above party with any/all inductees into the guild prior to invite to ensure that they will mesh well with the guild. At this rate, Misanthropist will have to archive her talk page to keep it clutter free! lol --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 12:51, 1 February 2007 (CST)

Hmmmm that actually might be a good solution. At least for now while we decide what to do and gives us a chance to get to know people from your guild. Discuss it with your leader and I'll do the same, and from there we can try to adventure together and see. -- BrianG 13:06, 1 February 2007 (CST)
Sounds good to me. I'll let you know once I hear from them.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 13:19, 1 February 2007 (CST)

So I was about to write a letter in my guild forums and it struck me, I don't know what your guild name or abbreviation is. Care to share with me? I don't want to look too silly to my guildies. Heh, ok, well, any sillier than usual.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 08:45, 2 February 2007 (CST)

Vallen, unfortunately, providing you with the guild name is not going to help you look less silly, hahaha. The guild leader wanted the initials MAD, and chose something randomly, so our guild is named "Milking Another Donkey". We are not currently aligned with either Luxon or Kurzick, but if someone can tell me the procedure to do this, I can get our leader to do it.
On another note, I just noticed on Oblio's page that he has left a note indicating that he might be interested in a similar type of alliance. I'm going to direct him to this talk page. -- BrianG 11:28, 2 February 2007 (CST)
hehehe. Well, if I'm SiC and you're MAD, then I'm sure that the guilds will be fine together. I'm all for it. I've placed the topic up for discussion on my guilds forums but it's in the private section for now. Any idea if Oblio is in a guild as well?--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 11:35, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Hahahah thats true I didn't notice the SiC / MAD thing, funny. Oblio's page says he is in the same boat as us, small guild of friends, wants an alliance to give more options for people to play with. I don't know any other details about his guild but I left a note for him directing him here. I believe to have an alliance we all have to be aligned with the same Faction. I believe Azroth is Kurzick, that would be my preference too, but what are you guys aligned with right now? -- BrianG 11:43, 2 February 2007 (CST)
This page desperately needs sections. Anyway, my guild, TNE (Tempus Nocturni E-something-latin-that-I-will-write-down-tonight) has a few people who play daily, about 8 people who play weekly, and about 40 people who have played in the lifetime of the game. We've been around since Prophesies came out and are made exclusively of freinds from HS/college. Anyway, I'm not looking for a guild so much as an alliance of similar small guilds, the idea being to (hopefully) utilize the alliance channel to facilitate more grouping opportunities. We are all east coast US. We are currently unaligned, but I can get enough faction together in a week to do either move the guild to either luxon or kurzik. Aside from rare FA play, I could care less about that war.
I'm not guild leader, but can be to facilitate getting an alliance together. -- Oblio (talk) 12:14, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Okay, I've done my best to try to create some sections, we just got carried away, hahahaha. Oblio it sounds like you are in the same boat as us in regards to activity levels, we have about 3-4 people who play daily and the rest are infrequent. I think an alliance would be great to give us both more options for people to play with. We tried to do the Grand Court of Sebelkeh mission with a PuG last night, thinking it would be easier, and died about 4 times before giving up. We then completed it easily with heroes, and realized that we must have been partied with people who had no clue what they were doing. It would also be nice to have access to people who I know are experienced in some of the higher level areas of PvE because we are interested in learning about the realms of the gods etc.
Can anyone tell me the exact steps that need to be done to align our guild with a faction? Or point me to a link? I can't seem to find this info on the wiki. -- BrianG 12:35, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Thanks for creating titles Bri. I was about to do it but then noticed someone else did, haha. I'm pretty down with this whole alliance thing, it would be really nice to have people to play with when it comes to missions, farming, etc that I know aren't idiots. Let's make it happen! -- Misanthropist 12:43, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Well, SiC is aligned with Luxon but I don't think we have any points in it since we stoped donating faction after our old alliance dissolved. I don't know how dedicated people are to being luxon or Kurzick personally in my guild. Either way, it sounds like things are getting interesting. There might be enough participation between the 3 guilds to have a constant grouping opportunity at almost any time. I'll drop a line here again when I see some remarks in my forum thread. And regrettably, I don't know anything about how to align with a faction. :( But I did see a small mention here about requirements. --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 12:51, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Dang it, was there a no idiot clause? :) Anyway, IIRC, an unaligned guild leader creates an alliance (this is done in HzH or Cav I believe). Then there is an alliance with 1 guild in it (I believe they are an alliance leader. They can invite others into the alliance... such invites show up on the guild leaders options (in the (g) screen)). I'll go ahead and get guild leadership tonight. I know it costs plat to do this stuff, if people need plat for this, I can cover expenses. -- Oblio (talk) 12:55, 2 February 2007 (CST)

Don't go too crazy now. I'm still just getting my officers/leader informed about this and directing them to this thread.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 13:02, 2 February 2007 (CST)

I'm not assuming that anyone in this thread is promising anything. Nevertheless, I am going to move forward with figuring out what I can do to get things rolling on my side (either creating an empty alliance, or figuring out how to join an alliance). My guild is small, small potatoes. I'm looking for increased grouping opportunities more than political overhead (if that sounds silly, then you have been spared dealing with some people that I have had to deal with). Anyway, I meant to imply no presumption. -- Oblio (talk) 13:09, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Hey all, I was just noticing this convo (from the recent changes) and wanted to express a little interest. I'm currently in my own guild which consists of about 6 people who I know irl (except one who's a roomie of someone I know irl) but most of them are on only sporadically. I wouldn't necessarily want to leave my guild but wouldn't mind joining an alliance of other wiki-types primarily for grouping opportunities and such. Currently I play almost exclusively with heroes/hench. Also, a note on aligning with a faction. As someone noted above, its done by the guild leader by talking to the respective NPC in HzH or Cavalon. It costs either 500g or 1 plat to align and can be switched by the guild leader (or alliance leader) if desired. (Edit: I just read what I wrote and wanted to note that I realize that I'm relatively new/unknown on the wiki and don't want to come across like I'm intruding. If my participation isn't desired that's ok, I just wanted to note interest to see if it was a possibility) Lojiin 13:17, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Oblio, sounds good. I've already discussed this idea with the heads of my guild, and they approved of the idea. Let's give Vallen some time to check with his guild before making any concrete moves. Even if it turns out that they are not interested, we can proceed with a smaller alliance.
Lojiin, it sounds like you're in a similar situation as well so I'm sympathetic, and I figure you'd probably fit in fine despite not knowing you much from the wiki. Plus, you've already given me some helpful information about how to align my guild with kurzick or luxon so thats appreciated. Stay tuned for more details, but in the meantime, why don't we all add each other to friends lists and maybe we'll have a chance to adventure together sometime this weekend? -- BrianG 14:30, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Sounds good to me. BTW - I just noticed that my guild main page says we are Kurzick aligned. O.o I think that's a type-o but then I haven't played AB in a while so it could've changed. lol. --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 14:35, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Aha! Boss says we changed to Kurzick so we are Kurzick aligned. Gonna have to change my user page O.o --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 14:55, 3 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Friends list

Oblio, I don't know what character name you go by. Brian and Misanthropist, what are your main characters? See you guys online.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 14:35, 2 February 2007 (CST)

I'm usually online playing with ANDROMEDA SWIRL so you can add that, I don't think it matters which character you have on your list so add that one for me! :) Misanthropist 14:41, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Vallen, I don't specifically have a main character, but my nightfall ones are the most played currently. However if you want to make it easy to remember who I am in your list, add Brian The Vaporizer, my prophecies elementalist (and least creatively named character, haha). -- BrianG 14:43, 2 February 2007 (CST)
When you add any character to a friends list, you will see whichever char that player is logged in as. An easy one for me to use is "Will of Melandru", though the primary refers to a long deleted character (my regretted R/E firestorm trapper). -- Oblio (talk) 14:58, 2 February 2007 (CST)
And here I thought it made the one you typed in the friends list the default on your list. Oh well. Good to know.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 15:07, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Vallen, IIRC how it works is the friends list will show you the character your friend is logged in as, but if it is a different character than the one you added, it will show the character you added in brackets to help you tell who it is. -- BrianG 15:15, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Right, but will it list that player's primary character name in that extra note or the one you typed in? I realize that the character they are playing as is displayed up front. -sigh- A Friday and moments from going home. My mind wanders so freely at this point.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 15:26, 2 February 2007 (CST)
As far as I know, there isn't actually such thing as a "primary" character as defined by Guild Wars. The character that displays in the brackets is the one you added to your friends list. Hence my suggestion to add my character named Brian, so when I'm signed on with someone else the brackets will help you remember who I am. :) -- BrianG 15:39, 2 February 2007 (CST)
I think you may be wrong about that. Add "will of melandru" and see if it shows up as "Teleos es Statos". I know that Teleos name (long deleted char) is what shows up in the guild roster when I'm not online. I'm not positive on friends though, I just assume it works that way. -- Oblio (talk) 15:56, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Yeah I could be mistaken but I'm not at home to check right now, I will check in a couple hours. I'm pretty sure that the Guild window works the same way as the friends window, but instead, it corresponds to the character that received the guild invitation as opposed to the character that was added to the friends list. Perhaps Teleos was the character that received the invite? -- BrianG 16:00, 2 February 2007 (CST)
I added "Brian The Vaporizer" and you do not show up online (offline as "Brian The Vaporizer"), so if that isn't your first char, then you are correct about what the friends lists stores. Off to buy pizza for friday night gaming :) cheers -- Oblio (talk) 16:06, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Oblio, I added "will of melandru" and you are on my friends list now. I tried to add "Teleos es Statos" and it says that the name doesn't exist. I think Brian is right when he said that it shows that because that was the character that received the Guild invitation. I also added you, Vallen. Maybe we'll see you guys on tonight. And now after reading your comment Oblio, I want pizza too. Haha. - Misanthropist 16:44, 2 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Of Dervish Elite Forms...

I've only just recently started a Dervish and a Paragon in NF (I'm a slow player which is why Vallen does so much stuff while my other characters lag behind) and I really like the Elite forms as well (noticed your comment on your userpage) though I'm only level 2 I've seen them and really want to try them out. As I haven't seen many Dervishes in our guild lately (probably just missed them) I look forward to the day we can Arcane Mimicry dual Elite Forms in an effort to keep them up 74 out of every 80 seconds. Just thought that up and am sooo eager to try it, I'll have to try and get my Dervish through NF now just for that possibility (even if we don't get the chance, at least with another Dervish - maybe a Hero even).--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 15:07, 2 February 2007 (CST)

Sadly I think it won't work. The skill description for Arcane Mimicry specifically excludes Form elites. :( -- BrianG 16:12, 2 February 2007 (CST)
I was going to post the same thing as Brian, I checked out the skill. Boo! - Misanthropist 16:39, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Now I understand what the heck it was talking about this whole time.  :p on that....--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 14:44, 3 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Alliance Ready

To Vallen, Oblio, and Azroth, and Lojiin, we've aligned our guild to kurzick so we are ready to alliance when/if you guys are! :) Misanthropist 20:36, 4 February 2007 (CST)

Hi everyone, sorry I was quiet for the past few days but I wasn't near a computer most of the time. I went skiing for the weekend and every night I was way to exhausted to even go online. :) I just read everything that was talked about since I was last on, and...My guild is Kurzick...Its name is Knights of the Afterlife [KOTA]...if you wanna add me as a friend, add Griever Ragnarok (I never play him anymore but I hope to revive him soon)...Brian is right about friends lists and guilds...thank god you started using sections!...and...I think that's about it. Anyway, as long as you guys aren't concerned about size or faction (my guild is 3 people right now and has 1 kurzick faction, lol) I'd love the idea of an alliance. If there's anything else that I should have responded too let me know, but I think that covers everything so far. ;)— builds Azroth talk 22:33, 4 February 2007 (CST)
Sounds good to me, I have no concern about amount of faction at all so don't worry about that. We don't have any either. I'll add you to my friends list the next time I'm on. -- BrianG 00:09, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Ok. With any luck I'll see you tomorrow. I wouldn't count on it though (I've got 3 labs and 2 papers due this week, so I doubt I'll have much time to play). ;_;— builds Azroth talk 00:28, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Oh, btw, mind if I let 55 know about this? Since he started the Guildwiki guild he might be interested in a wiki-ish alliance.— builds Azroth talk 00:31, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Sure, direct anyone you think may be interested to this talk page if you want. -- BrianG 00:50, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Wow, this is taking off with more people, guilds, and oomph than I expected. So far the Kurzick part is all agreed on with everyone, the mostly PvE part is agreed on it seems, and life/school comes first seems to be a common thing as well judging by the comments. The only other main things my guild supports (without getting into too much detail) is to always have fun (our motto) and after recent discussions it was a concern that other guilds may feel the need to faction farm for town ownership or the like. Our guild really isn't into that and only faction farms for buying armor or story progression, etc. I just wanted to make sure that I was up front for any that was concerned. I've had mostly a positive response from my guild but as I said before, partying some time will be a good thing (especially if an officer of mine is online at the same time and can join). To sum up, I guess as long as you recognize that my guild is there for fun and life/school comes first I think they may be receptive to any interested in an alliance. I'll be on Wednesday or Thursday in the evening so I hope to see you guys then or if not, sometime soon.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 07:57, 5 February 2007 (CST)

So... to start, a guild needs to form an alliance (of which they will be the only member) and send invites to other guilds. The guild leader has this ability through their Alliance tab on the Guild dialog. Who is doing this? My guild is currently unaligned and I'll have to go farm up some Kurzick faction before I can push it in that direction. -- Oblio (talk) 10:42, 5 February 2007 (CST)

There in lies the next part. I can't volunteer my guild as the leader (as I am a member and not an officer or guild leader) though it sounds like they have the most active members. Without partying with other guilds I'm sure my guild will not want to start that process yet. In otherwords, I'm not sure at this point until I party with others and hear more from my guildies. It could be that my guild (assuming it is ok with the alliance to begin with) ends up wanting to be a member instead though. As for other guilds interested, I can't vouch for them (obviously, heh). ;) --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 11:11, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Oblio, you don't need faction to align your guild. You just have to get to "House zu Heltzer" and have your Guild leader talk to "Kurzick Ambassador" there and then it costs just 500 gold to change it. That's it! I am currently the Guild leader in our Guild until we get all this sorted out so I have the money to start inviting everyone for alliance. Azroth, do you want me to send you an invite? The rest of you let me know when. :) Misanthropist 12:51, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Quick update, I'm checking with the whole err, 5 odd people in my guild, just to give them a heads up but I don't think there'll be any questions/issues. Oblio, I don't think you need a whole lot of faction to set your guild alliance (Assuming you're the guild leader). I think I had zero when I did it but am not sure as its been awhile. Misanthropist, I'll try and catch up with you sometime this week. Lojiin 12:54, 5 February 2007 (CST)
I became guild leader over the weekend so I will go align with kurzik and post my full guild name here this evening (unless something comes up). (I personally have no care about alliance leadership. Just throwing that out there for people who do care.) -- Oblio (talk) 12:59, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Vallen, please assure your guild that all of us are only interested in having fun and playing, and not interested in farming faction, owning towns, or any other political aspects. Since we have no interest in those things I don't think it makes a difference which guild is the head guild, so we might get started without you for now. We'll try to adventure with you this week and hopefully some of your guildmates will be available. For ease of use, I think whichever one of us that has leadership of their guild should lead the alliance as well. Misanthropist just has temporary leadership. Oblio, are you going to remain the leader of your guild? If so, I propose that you should lead the alliance, so invite us and Azroth. If not, I propose Azroth should then. -- BrianG 13:03, 5 February 2007 (CST)
I can be guild leader as long as I want or don't want. Historicly, we hot potato the position as needs change. While I'm not in any terrific hurry, unless I hear otherwise, I'll go ahead and start inviting guilds listed on this page this evening. The invite will come from [TNE]. If we have to reform for some reason if/when Vallen's guild comes onboard, then we can do that. I won't grieve the 2 plat. -- Oblio (talk) 13:11, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Alright, sounds good to me. I'm always gonna be the leader of my guild, so if you ever want to step down just let me know. The only thing I'm not sure about is how to transfer alliance leadership from one guild to another. I'm not even sure if its possible. I left my old alliance before the leader did, so I don't know what happens if a guild doesn't want to lead anymore.— builds Azroth talk 13:35, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Does alliance leadership give you any more mechanics than the ability to invite/kick guilds? -- Oblio (talk) 13:38, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Dont know. Guess we'll find out. :P— builds Azroth talk 13:42, 5 February 2007 (CST)

Ok, sounds good to me. Only about 1/2 my guild is wiki savy (I have transposed some of the conversation from here) though I have encouraged them to try and post here if they can. In the mean time, I have created a forum thread HERE on my guild web site (just make a temporary user name if you don't want to take too much time) for anyone interested in allying themselves with my guild. I fully encourage it. Thanks again guys. I look forward to partying with you guys soon.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 13:48, 5 February 2007 (CST)

Odd, that "log in to reply" didn't render as clickable text to me. I didn't think you could use p-elements as link objects even in aspx, but I hadn't done that stuff for a while now. I'll try to leave a breif note there this afternoon. -- Oblio (talk) 14:42, 5 February 2007 (CST)

As an FYI - a reply in the SiC forums by one of my officers here (and sometimes guild leader). I saw a few of you on last night on my friends list and would've sent messages but I was only playing 1/2 the time I was there. My wife was getting ready for her trip this morning so I was on and off helping her. My current guild leader, Kaz, was hanging around with me for the little bit I was on though. I have car repairs to take part in tonight but with any luck those will be finished within an hour or so after starting them after work and I can log in after that. I expect to play tonight and tomorrow night. If anyone is on when I log in, I'll message and let you guys know if any of my guild is in too. Perhaps a get together may be in order. ;) --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 07:20, 7 February 2007 (CST)

Well, my guild leader said he would contact you guys but just in case he forgot I'm posting this here. Apparently, when I started proposing the alliance idea, my officers and guild leader were already negotiating a different alliance. Admittedly, I was a little overzealous with my jump at an allinace with you guys as I suspected I should've cleared the idea with my officers/GL first. *embarased* (-_-;)

Sorry for all the :p I put you guys through. Not too long ago our guild joined the alliance that was being negotiated. So, sufficed to say, I'm in an alliance now. Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know that I hope your alliance goes well and that perhaps at some point in the future we all still will join together in an alliance or at least in friiendly groups. In the mean time, I'm glad to have you guys on my friends list and if you need another on your journeys feel free to give me a shout if I'm on. --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 15:33, 12 March 2007 (CDT)

[edit] Alliance status

Went Kurzik and invited KOTA and MAD. AFAIK, SiC is on the fence, and I didn't catch Lojiin's guild. It cost 500 gold to go kurzik, and 1plat for each invite. No word on "special commands" or anything yet. Later. -- Oblio (talk) 19:41, 5 February 2007 (CST)

Heh, ok. I checked with everyone and we're all good. The guild is the "Chronically Depressed Androids". The tag is [Mrvn]...if anyone gets it :D. Lojiin 20:43, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Invite's out. -- Oblio (talk) 21:40, 5 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Canthan Weekend

So I see that my guild (SiC) is looking forward to a party with the other guilds in the alliance. Regrettably, I doubt I'll be able to attend (RL) though I am still looking forward to it. I hope all goes well and when I log into GW after the weekend that we have a new friend. ;) --Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 11:27, 9 February 2007 (CST)

I lent Urgoz my longbow a while ago, and I was just going to swing by his place to pick it up this weekend. :) -- Oblio (talk) 11:30, 9 February 2007 (CST)
This weekend's bonuses are not specific to Cantha are they? Hopefully we'll get a chance to adventure somewhere else other than Cantha as well, since Misanthropist hasn't made much progress in Cantha, and another guildmate of ours only owns Nightfall at the moment. I'll probably be interested in some Cantha farming though. -- BrianG 11:48, 9 February 2007 (CST)
God I hate ASPX. I can't properly link things. Cut and paste yeilds:
This weekend, you have the opportunity to test Heroes' Ascent with an 8v8
party size configuration and share your comments throughout the coming week.
In addition, PvE players will enjoy a weekend's offering of free access to
Canthan Elite Mission and a doubling of the drop rate for rare items in those
missions! Join us this weekend, starting at Noon PST on Friday, February 9.
So it pretty much is just factions (unless you PvP much). If they do access like they did last time, you get to the area's through new NPCs in Kainang (normal access is through people in HzH and Cav). -- Oblio (talk) 11:54, 9 February 2007 (CST)
Ahhhhh I see. Well if they have access points from Kaineng then it'll be fine. I think at least her monk might be at Cavalon anyway actually. -- BrianG 11:59, 9 February 2007 (CST)
Hmm, wish I'd have known about Misanthropist earlier as I'm most of the way through pushing a char from creation up to the point where it can get into Cavalon and House zu Heltzer and could've helped her out. Assuming, of course, that she wanted to get up that far. Could still be done, though, if such was desired. Lojiin 12:17, 9 February 2007 (CST)
I have gotten to HzH and Cav with my monk but haven't got any further. :) Misanthropist 12:39, 9 February 2007 (CST)
I think she is mainly just anti-Factions haha. Plus we've been really enjoying nightfall so it hasn't been a priority. I still have a few characters to push through the annoying Kaineng City areas as well. Because we haven't been playing long (started with prophecies around the time that factions came out), our exploration of some of the late game prophecies areas and most of factions is incomplete on some of our characters. :( Its mostly just a matter of time though, eventually we'll be caught up. Hopefully before chapter 4 lol! -- BrianG 12:42, 9 February 2007 (CST)
Well I got stuck trying to get a group just after I went Luxon (go figure - my guild is Kurzick now and I didn't know it) at Gyala Hatchery as I didn't have the patience for henchies, didn't have heroes at the time, or anyone ever in that town for that mission. If they are moving it to KC though that's great news as almost anyone could then access it. Thanks for the info guys.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 14:54, 9 February 2007 (CST)

Just verified. Access is at Kainang Center. Talk to Eurale to go to the deep and die, talk to Vash to go to Urgoz's and die. :) -- Oblio (talk) 19:11, 9 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Chapter 4: Utopia?

I don't know if you guys have heard, but I was reading around for some information on the next possible expansion and found [link talking about it]. Pretty interesting! I'm excited for the next one, hopefully it isn't bad like Factions was. :P Misanthropist 13:17, 9 February 2007 (CST)

There's already a wiki page for chapter 4 over here. Though it doesn't contain much the talk page does have some fun speculation on it. Personally, taking the winter type theme that was suggested on said talk page, I'd like to see something like Shangri-La style. Himalayan mountains or the like. New classes that include more form skills, maybe like a druid who could take on animal forms and manifest the power of nature. Driving rain/sleet type stuff. Maybe call it a shaman?. Lojiin 13:29, 9 February 2007 (CST)
Having some personal interest in shamanism, I'm thinking a shaman/druid class would be very cool. It could have some kind of "herbalist" line for healing, a "reality-bending" line similar to some mesmer stuff, as well as "force of nature" type spells. Animal forms would fit perfectly for the elites (think Carlos Castaneda style shamanism). It would basically be like a caster version of a ranger. Its probably not that far of a stretch for the GW universe, especially if you know what Iboga actually is. ;) -- BrianG 15:07, 9 February 2007 (CST)
I must admit that I don't know what an Iboga actually is. I suppose I could google it but perhaps you can enlighten me? I like the idea though...I wonder if we could petition/submit it to ANet. Lojiin 15:12, 9 February 2007 (CST)
Hmmmm, just look it up on wikipedia. I was going to provide you a link but I'm at work and don't want to push my luck looking for something questionable. It was a weird coincidence when I realized though, since I was reading a book about shamanism and iboga when Nightfall was released. As I was writing that comment I had the same thought as you, it would be fun to try to develop this idea and present it to them, although on the other hand the chance of success would be unlikely. I think it would be fun to do anyway though! Lets bounce some ideas around on our talk pages if you want, and maybe we can create a subpage to sketch it out. -- BrianG 15:30, 9 February 2007 (CST)
So I went ahead and sketched a little something to start with overhere. Have a look and feel free to edit/comment etc. :) Lojiin 16:12, 9 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Prophecies

Hey Jess, if you talk to Cale today, let him know that I have successfully obtained him a copy of prophecies. :D -- BrianG 15:30, 9 February 2007 (CST)

Will do! That's great. :) Misanthropist 15:41, 9 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] AIM

Hi! I just logged onto AIM, ok it was half an hour ago but I'm at work so it counts as just, and saw : Misanthropex777x. While I doubt that's you I naturally went: oh, Misanthropist, so close. So I thought I'd say hi. So I did. Lojiin 16:26, 15 February 2007 (CST)

Looks like someone is stealing my awesome username, haha. But nope that obviously isn't me, I don't even use AIM. But it's nice of you to think of me and say hi. :) Misanthropist 18:12, 15 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Finishing up Nightfall

You're close! Let me know if you want/need help finishing up the last few quests and..what 2 missions? I've taken a few characters through now and would be happy to help. Lojiin 12:33, 20 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Interguild communication source

So I got to thinking last night while running around with Misanthropist and Spectral Wolf about some informal organization in the alliance. That is, a way for alliance members to get ahold of each other to schedule events or otherwise co-ordinate and communicate. Other than bogging down Misanthropists talk page here. The idea I came up with, was to create a google calendar for us all to use. I haven't got the ability currently to host a website or forums and google is free anyways. Thoughts/opinions? Lojiin 11:25, 22 February 2007 (CST)

I own (am root on) a coloc box on a huge fatty-fat line. But it is linux. So I can offer things like: teamspeak, forums. I use gmail, but haven't played with gcalendar. I can set up anything anyone considers useful. Off topic: I'm the only one in my guild to log in in the last 5 days. :( boo. hiss. -- Oblio (talk) 14:58, 22 February 2007 (CST)
lol, "huge fatty-fat line" nice. Like...T1? I want a fiber connection to my house but the odds of that happening anytime in the next decade or so are slim to none. It would totally rock though. If people prefer, and you don't object, we could always use phpBB or something like that which includes a calendar. Lojiin 15:09, 22 February 2007 (CST)
we as well use teamspeak sometimes. it's pretty fun. a forum would be good though. i think that would be the best idea. we could invite people on it even if they aren't in our alliance. so i'm down with whatever. oblio, some people in our guild haven't signed on for months.. so i know how you feel. haha. :P Misanthropist 16:26, 22 February 2007 (CST)
Yeah I agree. I've definitely been thinking it would be handy to have some way of scheduling and planning things. We could also have a place to let people know if there are certain weapons/drops/materials we need so we can help each other out. I'm not picky, whatever basic system any of you guys can set up will work for me, a very simple forum would be great. I usually run a teamspeak server from my own computer, but my system is not very powerful and i'm sharing a cable connection with jess, so i don't think the bandwidth is sufficient. So if there is a way you could host a teamspeak server for alliance use, that would be very helpful. -- BrianG 21:21, 22 February 2007 (CST)
I'll set some quick/simple things up. The fatty-fat pipe is a OC-256 (obviously data center)- it's a shared resource, but I've never seen it capped, even to my brother's stupid-fast fiber in manhatten (for whatever reason, we can't get that in po-dunk michigan). More info once something is up. -- Oblio (talk) 15:21, 25 February 2007 (CST)
http://298th.com/phpBB2. Haven't tested email notification (which is important to me) but the conf email sends, so good enough for now. -- Oblio (talk) 01:25, 26 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Hey Misa ^_^

Wow...I can't believe how much talk here died off after the construction of an Alliance forum...especially considering almost no one is on it. XD I mean, I know I'm a developing forum junkie but I would have expected that talk would have stayed as constant there as it was here. Instead it turns out that I'm one of the most active people there. ^_^; Not sure what is going on with the Alliance anymore since no one is using the forum and no one seems to be talking here. I see that Vallen's guild pulled out so is there still an alliance or anything? XD...kind of silly to be asking since I'm not playing anymore but I'm just curious. ^_^ I kinda expected to see more guys hanging around on your talk page :3...guess this really isn't like a forum ~_^;builds Azroth talk 02:42, 18 March 2007 (CDT)

Hmmm well aside from Vallen's guild not joining, the alliance is still in existance. Im happy with it so far, as I wasn't looking for anything heavy, just the option for occasional interaction with other likeminded players. And compared to what our guild had before, its a definite improvement. As for the inactivity on the forum, I've been a bit busy with real life lately too, and have otherwise been trying for a healther balance among my leisure activities (films, books, friends, etc). Any GW time I've been spending lately has been on small tasks and progressing some of my characters further, nothing that I've needed alliance assistance with. But I am definitely still planning to use the forum to organize runs, trades, etc. Maybe if you aren't playing much anymore you might have some cool items to unload on us?  ;) -- BrianG 15:43, 20 March 2007 (CDT)
Thanks for the info (and the userbox). ^_^; I'd say about half my characters have both bags filled with golds (and a few MAX req 8s)...but I'm far too impatient to go through the hassle of "WTS" (and I find that with 11 chars I'm starting to use more of them). I'm just hoping that one day an auction hall will be added (preferably before I run out of storage space). Glad to see you're keeping busy with healthier activities than GW. ~_^— builds Azroth talk 17:12, 21 March 2007 (CDT)
PS: I think we've turned Jess's talk page into much more of a forum than Skuld's...or the alliance forum for that matter. XD...Sorry Jess. <3
