[edit] Faction
Faction shows your allegiance to the Kurzicks or Luxons. You accumulate points based on accomplishing various tasks (such as quests or bounties) or competing in relevant PvP combat. You can spend accumulated points for some uncommon items or skills.
Unfortunately, spending faction points from one group costs you the same amount of faction from the other. Also, there is a cap on the amount of faction you can earn. Therefore:
- Always spend faction accumulated for one allegiance before farming for the other.
- Always spend faction before reaching the cap. (Whenever possible, raise the cap.)

Kurzick faction can be trade to Kurzick Bureaucrats and Luxon faction to Luxon Scavengers.

Note: it makes no sense to trade faction for mats — 5000 faction spent on scrolls can be converted into at least five amber (and more jadeite) even at the worst RMT prices.

When you start the game, each account is limited to gathering 10,000 faction. This cap can be raised to as high as 70,000 through various loyalty acheivements.
