[edit] Random Ideas for GW Alterations
| These are random musings, jumbled thoughts, and generally brain-fart material not ready for prime time. Please comment/amend assuming that I meant something mo' better, but have phrased/presented it poorly. Thanks! | Not Ready for Prime Time | It is OK to edit this article, even though it is in the user namespace! In fact, you may edit it mercilessly. [edit] Socialization
New emotes
- musical: /banjo played happily; /sax played soulfully, /kazoo played humorously
- social: /ballroom [player2] dances skillfully with /ballroom [player1]
- emotional: /cry; /laugh; /mwhahaha; /huh scratches head quizically; /lol laughs out loud; /rotfl rolls on the floor laughing;
- other: /omg -> oh my gosh & covers mouth
- functional: /afk -> sits & sets status to away; /DND -> sits & sets status to DND;
- coordinated: /shsne -> 3 players act out see/hear/speak no evil;
More accurate friend list statuses & choices
- Address Book -> currently called, "friend" -> allows you to see status, ez contact
- Friend -> does nothing unless reciprocal -> allows you to see location, primary avatar name
- Ignore -> always show status as "offline" to those on ignore list; prevents ignores from seeing character names
- DND -> does not send chat; however, if friend, marks (*) on friend list indicating contact attempt
Better trading choices
- keep single trade channel, but add tabs WTB, WTS, WTT
- add filter function
- add auction channel -> incorporate gwauctions.com or similar site (they have near-perfect implementation)
- for sale list: easier implementation than auction channel, allows player a new storage tab; items in the tab will show up as comma delimited WTS whenever player enters a town with trade channel
[edit] In Town
Storage
- Maintain storage limits (forces ppl to sell, choose rather than hoard)
- Offer two new tabs: (1) quest items & (2) specials -> spots for dyes and holiday items
[edit] Getting Around
Limit mobility by making places difficult to reach, not by arbitrarily preventing access. Lornar's Pass works well to slow people's route to Droknar's Forge; requiring missions to reach Minister Cho's Estate does not. The first allows people to reinvent the game; the second forces people to play the game you think you designed. Too many people running? Make the route harder, don't prevent the option. A few limits are sensible (Fissure of Woe, Underworld, changing 2nd prof) as long as you limit the number of limits.
