Hello and welcome to my user page.

I am a long time lurker and recent registered user to GuildWiki. Many of my earliest edits are under anonymous IPs.

I played on American servers before Guild Wars was released in Japan, but now I also have a Japanese server account. I still have the American server account because I am not allowed to transfer it to Japanese servers. The average age of Japanese players is much lower than American or European players, it seems. Most players I meet are 13-15 years old (or so they claim).

I am 36 and live in Philadelphia, USA. My original training is in mechanical engineering, but nowadays do programming work for a defense contracting consulting company. Yes, I am part of the military industrial complex. (Not Halliburton or KBR, though! I would resign if any of my work ever went to those evil companies!)

I came to the States in 1997 from Kobe, Japan. I am still learning to become fluent in English, so please forgive my English mistakes. My wife also plays MMORPGs a lot, but she likes World of Warcraft more, where she plays a high level druid. Druids are fun to play, but too overpowered in some ways, I think. Originally she was the one who started playing Guild Wars, but now I play all her characters. I tried to get my son and daughter interested in Guild Wars, but they are still too young to get it. Or maybe they are wiser than me!

[edit] Professions

I play mesmers and necromancers mainly. I started out being a PvE player, but these days I do mostly GvG and Team Arenas. The build I really like playing is [[Me/Mo E-Surge Mesmer]], but I don't use the exact build in the article. Usually I am part of the Aegis chain.

[edit] Campaigns

I haven't bought "Factions" for my Japanese account yet because it is so expensive! On the American servers I have one linked account. I am not very impressed with Factions, although they have a very impressive Asian art style. The Emperor of Cantha seems to be modelled on Heian or Kamakura period emperors of Japan (even the costumes).

Kaineng City for the most part doesn't remind me of any place in East Asia. It may be modelled on Southeast Asia or the Indian subcontinent.

The Kurzicks are, of course, not Asian at all. Usually you have to go to the Shibuya-cho in Tokyo to find goths!
