The ultimate soldier. Born and raised to a typical farming family in Kourna, Saif was raised to believe that if you don't succeed, simply try harder.
A firm believer in serving the right causes, he joined the Kournan army for several years. He was eventually dismissed from service after having a moral dispute with his commander, a certain Colonel Bayel. The Sunspears hesitated to accept Saif as he was much older than their prefered recruitment age.
In an ironic twist of fate, it would be Bayel's alma mater, the Ascalon Academy that would accept Saif and help him fulfill his dream of training to be a hero who serves others.
My first char and the second oldest of the group age-wise, Saif is respected by most of them, with the exception of T-1 who finds his commitment to honor and service rather comical. His closest friend is Sheikh Ibrahim. He greatly admires Esmeralda, but keeps his feelings to himself believing it cannot work.

A young, kind, stubborn and gifted elementalist who hails from Vabbi.
Her mother's ancestry is rumored to be mixed with Djinn, explaining her "uncommon" skin and hair colors as well as her gift with the elements, but she never discusses her parents with outsiders. Her family moved to Ascalon and enlisted her in the Nolani Academy before the Searing to provide her with the best teachers to foster her talents. No school could rival the expertise of the Flaming Scepter mages. After the Charr invasion, they moved back to the comforts of Vabbi but their daughter's hunt for "justice" and "making the world a better place" remains unquenched. So she ventures far and wide.
Lamees is a natural leader who likes to help out. Her youth gives her a strong passion for justice, but also an impatient tempermental nature that sometimes gets her in trouble.
Her best friends are Joe Green and Yasmeen, she has great respect for Saif, she does not trust T-1 and completely and utterly despises Kyle. She is, by far, my favorite character.

A very secretive character. No one knows anything about his background, and he does not share any of it. It is obvious that he hails from Cantha, but beyond that, little is known. His reasons for choosing Ascalon Academy over Shing Jea Monastery are unknown as well.
T-1 as he is often called, is the only one of the group who does not share their ideal of serving the greater good and combating evil. Unlike most monks in Tyria he does not enjoy healing others and cares little for soothing the wounds of brothers in arms. His monking philosophy is more aggressive, he'd much rather pre-empt and negate damage, than expend energy healing its effect. Most unnerving is that he obviously doesn't like people, which often leaves his comrades wondering if he cares enough about them for them to trust him with their lives.
T-1's motives are unknown. He reveres one thing and that is great power, of which he controls a sizeable amount. It's the main reason he puts up with (what he perceives as) the childish dreams of the rest of the group to bring peace and justice to the world. He can see great power in all of them.
His only friend is Joe Green who is also the only one who rivals him, in terms of knowledge. He cares little for how the others perceive him, though he finds Saif to be extremely naive.

Kyle is the anti-Lamees. The only thing they have in common is their great magical aptitude. Their rivalry started in Nolani Academy and carries on to this day. While Lamees is a leader who fusses about what everyone should be doing, Kyle is care-free and seldom bothers to instruct or lead.
Kyle is a devout believer in Grenth and his service to Grenth was rewarded when he was slain in the dark events that consumed the Tomb of the Primeval Kings. Lamees mourned him as a fallen comrade and wondered if she had been too harsh on him, only to find out the God of Death sent him back to continue his work of annoying her.
Kyle in the end is a good guy, and while his methods maybe questionable and his dedication to the team plan maybe suspect, there is no doubt that below this laid-back facade is one powerful master of the dark arts who does not hesitate to send people to Grenth when he thinks they are due for a meeting.
Kyle is too lazy to hold a grudge, so he likes everyone else in the group just fine. He finds Esmeralda to be hot.

Murjanah is a very driven young woman. Driven by an unsatiable desire for self-improve and a promise to avenge those who are dealt injustice. Growing up in the tough streets of Kaineng City, Murjanah's father was killed by a Jade Brotherhood crime boss. She vowed to avenge her father, and as such, learned the dealy arts of the assassin profession.
Murjanah would become a lethal assassin and go on to slay that crime boss. She found her vengeance complete, but her soul hollow. It was at that time in her life that she met Joe Green, and it was his wisdom and guidance that allowed her to find a new purpose and renew her drive for excellence.
Murjanah's best friend is Yasmeen who shares her love for the outdoors and her inexperience but she respects no one more than Joe. She finds Kyle's lack of discipline very questionable and she also thinks Saif's methods are too old and not very useful. My least played character.

Mean Was Joe Green is a wandering old man. A graduate and native of Shing Jea Island, this wandering spirit has traveled far and wide. A teacher who is always learning, Joe Green preaches one message: The good are strong.
His age is unknown, and he sometimes acts like he was around when ancient events unfolded, however it is clear that while he is very kind and gentle, he draws a very clear line between kindness and meekness. Some terrible betrayal took place in his past that has made him preach constant readiness, however, his wisdom and patience have kept him from losing trust in the goodness of man kind.
Joe Green embraces all and sees potential for greatness in all. Lamees is his protege and he tries to bring her along slowly into realizing her potential, not just as a magician, but as a powerful leader of men. His greatest challenge seems to be to convince her that Kyle is not the worst affliction that the Gods sent upon Tyria. He is constantly amazed and amused by T-1's knowledge, Esmeralda's wit and Yasmeen's innocence. One of my favorite characters.

The youngest and most innocent of the group. The sweet spunky little girl from Riverside Province. Yasmeen did not go to the Ascalon Academy like the other Tyrian raised characters as she was too young. She did join the forces of the Ascalon Vanguard after the Searing to help defend Ascalon against the Charr.
Growing up in a rural region of Kryta and close to the exotic Maguuma Jungle, Yasmeen has a strong appreciation and bond with nature. Her main reasons for joining the group are to stop the evil forces in the world like the White Mantle, Mursaat and Abaddon from destroying the beauty in the world.
Yasmeen's innocence allows her to see and appreciate the beauty in each member of the group, though she is slightly unnerved by T-1's inability to see the beauty in living things. Although sometimes overly protective, Lamees is her closest friend and confidant with Murjanah close behind. Although she has not confided to them that she has a secret crush on the good Sheikh.

The sharpest wit in the group. Esmeralda is the daughter of a wealthy Ascalonian family from Rin and one of the brightest students in Nolani Academy before its destruction.
Despite a mini-rivalry with Lamees on who's prettier and who has the more beautiful outfits and armor sets, she has great admiration for Lamees and the feeling is mutual. While their methods tend to differ, with Lamees preferring full frontal assaults and Esmeralda preferring manipulating the enemy, their belief in opposing injustice is identical. This is also reflected in their social skills. Esmeralda is a smooth talker who enjoys playing games with others, while Lamees is a straight talker.
Esmeralda enjoys learning from Joe Green and T-1 despite their best efforts to hoard their knowledge. She feels that a few of the male members are attracted to her, but she thinks that's normal given how hot she looks.

The good sheikh is a mystic and an aspiring scholar from the beautiful island region of Istan. A true Sunspear through and through, Ibrahim is motivated by doing good to serve the Five Gods.
A brave and creative gladiator in combat, Ibrahim fought against the Corsairs and later on against Varesh's forces in their attempt to destroy the Sunspears and all of Elona.
Ibrahim enjoys the company of Saif and likes to learn from Joe Green as the most scholarly of the group. He has feelings for Yasmeen as she does for him.

Of mixed Krytan and Istani descent, Nabeel is the most confident, flamboyant and probably arrogant Paragon to join the ranks of the Sunspears. In a way he is the anti-thesis of the humble and quiet Ibrahim... he is always cheerful, always loud and always sure of victory. He likes to employ what he calls "flexible idealism" as a way of life, believing in the ideals of the Sunspears but going about carrying them in any means necessary including things that Kormir might wrinkle her nose at. This has made him a very close friend of Koss who shares many of Nabeel's flexible ideals. Nabeel likes everyone equally until they criticize him and he does not hold grudges believing it's a barrier in the path of a successful leader. He's tall, dark and handsome and he makes sure the girls in the group do not forget that.
