[edit] Guild Wars 2 and GW:EN
I like how so many people erupted in whining at this news. There's a different reason every time. I'm going to take a bulleted list of why ya'll should deal with it.
- "Oh boy, they're making Guild Wars into WoW." -No, they're not making Guild Wars into WoW. Almost every other MMO has playable races. Oh shit, Guild Wars is jumping on the band wagon. If you want to bitch, bitch about them throwing up their hands and giving it to an MMO cliche; one that's so common, it shouldn't even be a big deal. Other then that, nothing about this news screams WoW or any other MMO but freaking Guild Wars.
- "A high level cap? They must be changes the core gameply mechanics or something!" Right. Or they could be either A. Spreading the attribute points gain, or splitting up the extention of the character a tad more, or that could mean that they're adding an actually level gain for every unlockable skill point. Oh the horror. God forbid there's a way to tell somebody has at least some experience in the game other then looking for a Protector title or 15 freaking k armor.
- "NO NEW PROFESSIONS? ANET MUST HATE US, I'M CANCELING MY SUB.. ER. BOYCOTING IT." Last thing we need is two more useless professions. Mostly everybody are looking at new professions as something different to play. I see posts on Guru about all these exotic profession ideas. I look at half of them and say 'Why don't you just roll an Ele?'. We don't need more gimmicky melee classes. We don't need some blow-hard caster that tries and fails to be an option to monks for healing. We don't need an entire profession based around one kind of skill gimmick. Spirits? LETS MAKE A PROFESSION FOR IT! Shouts? SHIT, THAT TOO.
- "Asura is ugly." Seriously. Pick your battles.
- "50 PvE only skills? ANET clearly favors PvEers over PvPers. I'm quitting/boycoting/writingangryforumposts." Why? Because sometimes skills shouldn't be nerfed because PvP players abuse it into the ground. Reaper's Mark, Offering of Blood, Gale, Paragons in general. There's a difference between a skill that's balanced for PvP and a skill that's balanced for PvE.
- "This/that/whatever sound like they're going to be bad." Saying that Guild Wars 2 'sounds bad'. Means that Guild Wars sounds bad, in which case you shouldn't be playing it. Jumping to a harsh critisim so early with so little information is just... ugh.
[edit] NAME'D
The name I used back in the old Counter-Strike days, back before anybody knew any better. Not to say that I played it much, or even liked Counter-Strike; I don't. It's just when I play anything that interacts with people on the internet, I'm usually a dick to everybody. A name like this is an easy way to convey the same ammount of dickery as I'd normally be seen doing, save for the fact that I can bypass any censor-blockers, and come out as a slightly more sophis-tuh-muh-kated jackass. So it was Alt F4, and in the old days, things were good.
Then Guild Wars came around, and I was forced to adapt. Then there's that guy whom I, as well as others, consider the 'real' Alt F4, who's a Flash Cartoonist. So it's now Alt F Four. In retrospect, I should of made him a shutdown Mesmer. Now, I will repeat everything I said about my occationally offensive quasi-banana peal e-name with a bulleted list.
- No, I am not the Flash Cartoonist Alt F4. I never claim to be, and I charged the name to all letters out of respect for somebody with more talent then me. That and Guild Wars wouldn't accept the number 4. Yes, children, it's perfectly possible for two people to have the same idea.
- Yes, I do it to piss people off.
- If you use this to judge my levels of maturity, I'd love to mail you a pair of pliers to remove that stick
- Yes, this page is a staple of my arrogance.
- Yes, I just said 'quasi-banana peal'.
- I wish my page was prettier.
