[edit] Notes

[edit] Cost of becoming grandmaster

The lowest cost to earn the Grandmaster Treasure Hunter title is about 4,510Platinum, which requires purchasing 3,764 lockpicks at a Luxon or Kurzick merchant for 1.2Platinum each. The cheapest way using keys costs 6,000Platinum. Five different methods are compared below:

Method Cost per Key/Pick Total Cost Notes
Normal Keys 600 Gold 6000 Platinum Cheapest high-end keys available at outposts.
Discounted keys 480 Gold 4800 Platinum Cheapest high-end Keys available at Kurzick or Luxon merchants.
Lockpicks 1 Platinum 500 Gold 5646 Platinum 3,764 lockpicks purchased at merchants.
Trade-priced Lockpicks 1 Platinum 250 Gold 4705 Platinum 3,764 lockpicks traded at standard rate.
Discounted Lockpicks 1 Platinum 200 Gold 4516 Platinum 800 Gold 3,764 lockpicks purchased at Factions merchants.
  • The costs above do not take into account loot found.
  • All methods assume that players open the lowest cost high-end chests, which also has the best retention rates for lockpicks (and provides the cheapest way to progress the Lucky title using lockpicks).
  • The standard trade price for lockpicks is 1 Platinum 250 Gold and is generally available in the major trading towns; the discount price is only available at Factions merchants.
  • The lockpick costs assume that the player starts with 0 points in Lucky & Treasure Hunter and that the player will use 3,764 picks to open 10,000 chests. The number of picks was determined by assuming that the player starts off opening 33 chests using 20 picks (at the 40% retention rate) and, near the end, can open over 45 chests with 20 picks (with an 18% bonus as a Master Treasure Hunter and an 8% bonus from being Prosperous).

[edit] Wisdom title track

These titles are granted to an account for identifying rare items:

Rank Title Rare items identified: Salvage Bonus
increase
1 Seeker of Wisdom 100 3%
2 Collector of Wisdom 250 6%
3 Devotee of Wisdom
550 9%
4 Devourer of Wisdom

5 Font of Wisdom
2,500 15%
6 Oracle of Wisdom
5,000 18%
7 Source of Wisdom
(Max level)
10,000 21%

[edit] Notes

  • As of the June 11th 2009 update the Wisdom title track now contributes to gaining The Favor of the Gods.
  • Do not attempt to salvage runes from gold armors before identifying to get two IDs from one item. The August 23rd 2007 update has made all unidentified armors break after salvaging regardless of your rank in Wisdom or Treasure Hunter.
  • See the Drop rate article for information on which chests provide the best possibility of yielding gold items. Another way to obtain this title is to buy unidentified gold items from other players.

[edit] Zaishen title track

These titles are granted to an account that has opened the Zaishen Chest multiple times. Each opening of the chest grants 5 points towards the title.

Lightbringer. Title. For each Rank of Lightbringer, you deal 5% more damage to and have +1 damage reduction against Abaddon and his demonic servants.

Furthermore, you can earn the PvE-only skills Lightbringer's Gaze (rank 2) and Lightbringer Signet (rank 3), which can be used to fight demons. These skills also increase in effectiveness as you gain more ranks in this title.

Increasing in Lightbringer rank gives Hero skill points, which can be used to add free skills to the character and unlock skills for all heroes and PvP characters.

3 The two party missions (Unwaking Waters (mission) and Vizunah Square (mission)) are a single mission regardless of which starting area you launch from.

[edit] Guardian title track

An extension to the Protector title track that was released with Hard Mode. Earn your place as a Guardian of Tyria, Cantha, or Elona by completing all of a campaign's missions and bonuses in Hard mode. The Guardian titles contribute towards Legendary Guardian.

Guardian of Elona Nightfall 20 Master's Reward

[edit] Vanquisher title track

This title is granted to a character for defeating all of the foes in each explorable area of a campaign while in Hard Mode. A character's progression can be tracked on the World Map: areas that have been vanquished will have a gold design around the name, while unvanquished areas will be red. Note that if your entire party reaches -60% death penalty and all of your party members are dead, you are returned to the last visited outpost and must restart the area.

Title Campaign Explorable Areas Vanquished Grand Total of Monsters (min-max) Average Number of Monsters
Tyrian Vanquisher1 Prophecies 54 8,746 - 11,125 184
Canthan Vanquisher1 Factions 33 4,806 - 6,614 173

1 These titles are all individual and independent title tracks, with only one level each. Each of them currently counts towards the Kind Of A Big Deal and Legendary Vanquisher title tracks.
2 There is no Vanquisher title for EotN; instead, vanquishing EotN areas counts toward the Master of the North title track.
Image:Vanquisher counter.jpg A red counter in the effects monitor will display how many foes the party has vanquished in the current area.
Image:Vanquisher counter complete.jpg Upon successfully vanquishing an area, the counter will turn gold.

[edit] Skill Hunter title tracks

Each Continent's respective title includes the core elite skills and all elite skills from that continent.

Title1 Campaign Elite Skills Captured2
Tyrian Elite Skill Hunter Prophecies 90
Canthan Elite Skill Hunter Factions 120
Elonian Elite Skill Hunter Nightfall 1403
Legendary Skill Hunter
(Max Level)
All Three 2904
1 The titles listed above are all individual and independent title tracks, with only one level each. Each of them currently counts towards the "Kind Of A Big Deal" title track.
2 Core Elite Skills captured in one campaign also count as one in the other chapters.
3 Junundu Siege does not count towards the title-track.
4 The core elites are common to all three title tracks making the total number of skills 290, not 350.

[edit] Notes

  • To capture all 290 elites in the game, you need to independently earn 194 skill points (you will earn the remaining 96 points through capping alone).
  • Expect to spend about 288Platinum to buy the required Signets of Capture (each character will likely earn two SoCs from quests).
  • Elite Tomes can help you reach the title more quickly on multiple characters. However, this time savings comes at considerable expense: Elite tomes generally cost 3–8Platinum, depending on the market rates for the particular profession.
  • To capture the Ritualist and Assassin skills in Nightfall (to complete the Elonian title), you must also own a copy of Factions.

Sunspear Rank title track

In Guild Wars Nightfall a character gains rank in the Order of the Sunspears by collecting Sunspear Promotion Points.

Rank Title Sunspear Promotion Points:
1 Sunspear Sergeant 50
2 Sunspear Master Sergeant 100
3 Second Spear 175
4 First Spear 300
5 Sunspear Captain 500
6 Sunspear Commander 1,000
7 Sunspear General 2,500
8 Sunspear Castellan 7,500
9 Spearmarshal 15,000
10 Legendary Spearmarshal
(Max Level)
50,000

You must be at least a Sunspear Commander to display the title.

  • PvE-only Sunspear skills can be learned after reaching certain ranks of the title. The power of these skills increases with Sunspear rank.

[edit] Survivor title track

To gain the following titles, one must obtain the experience required and incur 0 deaths (check with /deaths). Once the title is earned, it will not be lost upon death. However, your progression towards the next title halts once you die.

Rank Title Experience gained without dying:
1 Survivor 140,600
2 Indomitable Survivor 587,500
3 Legendary Survivor
(Max level)
1,337,500

[edit] Trivia

  • Because the experience total at the time of the character's first death is permanently displayed on the title, some players intentionally kill the character at a specific point after achieving Legendary Survivor in order to have a "spiffy" or "geeky" number on the title. A couple examples are 1,414,214xp and 1,732,051xp (which are equal to √2·106 and √3·106 respectively, rounded to the nearest integer).
