[edit] Adds

As with most innocuous looking spawns, Chkkr is happily flying alone but once you engage a fair number of spawns add. I believe I had 5 Mantis Dreamweavers and 5 or 6 Mantis Hunters.

It is actually possable to kill the boss without engaging it directly and causing it's firends to spawn... His freinds appear with your proximity to him. If you blast him from afar you can kill him without interfearnce The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.253.96.47 (contribs) 07:39, 29 August 2006.

Yep, if you longbow him at the top of the stairs, he will come up them after you. Then it's one on one until a patrol of a Dragon Moss, Undergrowth, and Stone Scale Kirin sneak up behind Brightclaw. He'll kill them, then it's time to kill him. There is actually a thread on gurus entitled Melandru's Farm Report that goes into detail about soloing most bosses there. -Gares
Well, theres a method to solo him without encountering the patrol. At the bottom of the stair, you turn right(90 degree) and hug the wall, watch the movement of Brightclaw and when he is about to touch your aggro range, use a longbow to hit it. I use this method to solo Brightclaw on my ritualist. But if you are Melee character, pulling him up the stair is the only method i guess, without aggroing the hidden mobs inside the pool. --Cwingnam2000 08:09, 29 August 2006 (CDT)

Is it proper to reference a "nerf" on a core (non-build) page? Either way, it's probably been tested by now, as that was written over 5 months ago. -- Peej 10:01, 3 February 2007 (CST)

[edit] Major Drop Issues?

Is Chkkr's Green seriously rare-dropping or something? I have farmed Chkkr Brightclaw in Hard Mode over twice as many times as I have killed Byzzr Wingmender, and have got Byzzr's Green about 6 times. I haven't had Chkkr's even once. No golds from him either, and I have solo-killed him over 50 times in hard mode. Is he just exceptionally stingey or have I got the worst luck on the whole planet? ~ SotiCoto 81.86.47.100 15:54, 2 May 2007 (CDT)

I got the green just capping...must be your bad luck :(
I got one to drop. There's a group that is triggered to run in when you pass a certain point. It's a small 3 enemy group that will attack Brightclaw and it will conflict with your drops. So, instead of pulling Brightclaw right off, flag your group at the base of the stairs and run up and get the 3 enemy group and kill them first. Then flag your group back up the stairs and pull Brightclaw normally (so you don't spawn all the Mantis). The elevation bonus is key because he does A LOT of damage. Hope this helps! --Eris412 23:54, October 2, 2009 (UTC)Eris412
