Area Name: Sorrow's Furnace
Region: Southern Shiverpeaks
Sorrow's Furnace is a difficult explorable area under the Shiverpeak Mountains. The area contains the mining operations of the Stone Summit and is overrun with new types of Summit units. It is recommended, if entering the Furnace for the first time, to take on the quest "To Sorrow's Furnace", and its sub-quests, as they present a primer to the area. High Priest Alkar suggests that the Furnace used to be under Deldrimor control.
Sorrow's Furnace is an underground area (Game Update 7th of September 2005, Sorrows Furnace map), similar to The Underworld and The Fissure of Woe. The entrance is found deep in the chasm of Grenth's Footprint; almost directly north of Deldrimor War Camp.
Tip: One of the best ways to explore this area is to do the Summit Slaves quest. You will be able to enter as a spy and move about freely. This will allow you to learn the layout of Sorrow's Furnace, note the placement of bosses and patrols, and learn how to operate mechanisms.
