Skill Nomenclature

Chants have different subtypes that denote what they will affect on the affected party members:

  • Anthems affect the next attack skill used.
  • Arias affect the next spell used.
  • Ballads take effect the next time damage is taken.
  • Choruses affect the next shout or chant used.
  • Lyrics affect the next signet used.
  • Songs affect the next skill used.

Echoes also have different subtypes that tell when their effects take place:

  • Finales have a single effect the next time a shout or chant ends on the target.
  • Refrains are reapplied each time a shout or chant ends on the target.
  • Echoes without a subtype have fixed durations, and their effects are active only while under a shout or chant.

Several key words denote the effect a skill will have:

  • Energizing indicates a reduction in energy cost or energy gain.
  • Purifying or of Purification indicates condition removal.
  • of Restoration indicates health gain.
  • Zealous or of Zeal indicates energy gain.
