Game maker NCSoft published at least two dozen different editions of Guild Wars for sale through retail outlets. They vary in price, campaign content, bonus in-game content, number of character slots provided, and bonus physical content (as indicated below). In addition, players may purchase additional software through the official site or the online store.
Edition Variation Overview[]
Price: Edition prices varies dynamically, according to the usual rules of supply & demand and the availability of new content. Your best bet is to visit your favorite retailer, online vendor, or auction site.
Campaign Content: Editions can include one or more of any of the campaigns: Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, or Eye of the North expansion.
Number of Character Slots: Each edition offers account holders a number of slots for characters. Typically, CD/DVD editions offer four characters to new accounts and three when you combine your access code with an existing account.
Bonus In-Game Content: Depending on the edition, you might receive any of a number of items. You might also receive access to additional missions not otherwise available.
Bonus Physical Content: Finally, some editions also offer physical items of interest to players or collectors, such as a laminated list of default commands or artwork.
