The Elder Druid can be encountered in the mission Bloodstone Fen as part of the bonus. When he is awakened by summoning the druids without killing any Jungle Guardians, you are awarded the 1000 bonus experience. After he is summoned, the Jungle Guardians are no longer hostile (even though still appear as red dots) unless you are playing the Bloodstone Fen mission in Hard Mode in which they will still attack you.
