Many Metagame or FotM builds come and go without much impact; but every so often, a build or general setup manages to survive metagame changes or nerfs (often, these nerfs are targeted directly to these builds), and goes on to become a build "Archetype".

Not all archetypes leave a huge impact; not all archetypes last forever; and most importantly, not all archetypes leave a particularly "good" impression. However, no matter the impact of the archetype, they all leave a lasting impression on the game; be it aftermath of game updates targeting particularly overpowered archetypes, or other builds spawned in the wake of the original, or even common jokes based on some archetypes, such as the famed "Echo-Mender".
