Buff

The term buff can mean either of the following:
- As a noun, a positive effect.
- As a verb, to increase power or provide a positive effect.
"Buff" can be used to refer to either in game effects or changes to game mechanics. For example, Windborne Speed is a buff because it increases movement speed while the change to Meteor in the August 25, 2005 update was a buff because it decreased the energy cost, making the skill relatively more powerful.
The opposite of buff for in game effects is debuff while the opposite of buff for game mechanic changes is nerf.
