[edit] Notes
- Unlike most other tamable animals, Black Wolves in Grothmar Wardowns do not appear as "friendly" creatures (green-coloured triangle in compass map) but instead are "neutral" creatures (yellow-coloured triangle). Because of this, they will not turn hostile when you start charming them, meaning that you cannot death-level them without first attacking them. The only other known animals like this are the White Moa, the Troublesome Flamingo and the Jingle Bear.
- This model is a re-skinned version of the (Snow) Wolf.
- A level 5 White Wolf or Black Wolf will randomly spawn at The Great Wolf Shrine.
- The Black Wolves outside of the Jotun Cave in Varajar Fells usually get attacked by Berserking Wendigo if the player cannot clear the area fast enough.
- Black wolves also appear in the Bonus Mission Pack mission The Flight North.
