[edit] Walkthrough
Head down the short path to the lava-filled chamber where The Great Destroyer awaits. Around the chamber are a number of hardened crusts that, for a short while, will provide solid footing and protection from the lava. Each crust has a Destroyer of Lives on it. You should see the Great Destroyer directly across the chamber. The two Destroyers of Lives between you and it are the only ones you need to take out, the rest can be ignored. If you need to, retreat to the solid ground to heal up before attacking the Great Destroyer.
After killing the Great Destroyer, a cutscene will play, and the party will be transported to the Epilogue.
[edit] The Great Destroyer's skills
All the damage from these skills is fire damage.
-
Call of Destruction - Summons 3-5 additional destroyers.
-
Enraged Blast - Deals knockdown and 115 damage to all foes in earshot. The Great Destroyer will use this skill whenever it is interrupted, so you may want to avoid using interrupts against it.
-
Flame Jet - (Hard Mode only) Deals 600 damage to a single target, half if the target is enchanted.
-
Lava Blast - Deals knockdown and 75 damage to all foes standing in lava.
-
Lava Ground - Melts the solid ground in the chamber, turning it all into lava. The Great Destroyer will first use this when you get within about twice aggro radius of it and can maintain it for the entire battle.
-
Lava Wave - Deals 100 damage to all burning foes, summons a destroyer, and submerges the Great Destroyer in the lava for 12 seconds, during which time it is immune to all damage and has +10 health regeneration. Life stealing and health degeneration will still affect it.
-
Searing Breath - Deals 80 damage to foes in a wedge-shaped area in front of the Great Destroyer, and 40 additional damage for each enchantment on them. The Great Destroyer has a unique fire-breathing animation for this skill.
The only skills that are potentially problematic are Call of Destruction (the extra destroyers could easily overwhelm an unprepared party) and Lava Wave, and you may want to risk the Enraged Blast to interrupt them. If you are having trouble with the constant burning, you may also want to interrupt Lava Ground so you'll have solid ground to fight on. In Hard Mode, Flame Jet can easily kill a party member instantly, even with an enchantment.
[edit] General skill suggestions
- Spammable party-wide healing such as Light of Deliverance or Breath of the Great Dwarf.
- Ritualist spirits such as Recovery and Recuperation can be placed on the permanently solid ground just outside the lava. You may have to pull the Great Destroyer towards them so the party can stay within the spirits' effect radius.
- Life stealing skills will ignore the Great Destroyer's high armor, and are also still effective when it is under Lava Wave.
- Anti-knockdown skills to counter the knockdowns from Lava Blast and Enraged Blast.
- Frigid Armor and Avatar of Melandru grant immunity to burning.
- Mantra of Flame, Ward Against Elements, or Ward Against Harm to reduce the fire damage suffered by the party.
[edit] Gimmick builds
- The Asuran skill Pain Inverter is very effective due to the Great Destroyer's penchant for Area of Effect damage.
- A modified Invincible Monk build can solo this mission.
- A group of three Touch Rangers (even one player and two heroes) with plenty of healing support can make quick work of the Great Destroyer.

[edit] Notes
- Unlike the other primary quests in Eye of the North, there is no resurrection shrine here, so if your party wipes you will be sent back to the Central Transfer Chamber.
- The tree shown in the cut-scene where Ogden says: 'New creatures would stir' can be found near Ventari on his island in Arbor Bay.
