Historically, the phrase "1.5k armor" referred to a set of armor that cost 1.5 platinum per piece to craft. These sets were crafted beginning in Droknar's Forge, and had the best stats among their own type of armor. However, this phrase is now obsolete as integrated bonuses in Prophecies and Factions armor have been replaced with the insignia system introduced in Nightfall. Such armor now costs 1k per piece to craft and the player must separately purchase insignias for each piece of armor. The phrase survives through habitual use despite being technically obsolete.
